LOGISTICS FLOW OF CLINICAL WASTE
Logistics flow of waste is in essence of “Reverse Logistics Flow”. It is the collection and disposal of a product, which has, end its useful life cycle in an orderly manner. Instead of normal logistics, which is one to many divergent forms, the main difference with reverse logistics flow, is that it (Waste collection) is a many to one convergent process as shown in the following diagram.
The above is the logistics flow of normal product and waste, but clinical waste is different because it is biohazardous. This is why internationally, new legislation are enacted to control clinical waste disposal. Hong Kong is no exception. Clinical waste producers, collectors and disposal facilities will need proper licensed, and everyone concern with clinical waste in this reverse logistics chain are requested to familiarise themselves with the new ordinance.
